Health and Nutrition awareness program
Loyola ITI, in collaboration with Vidya, organized a Health and Nutrition awareness program on 2nd September 2024 to promote a healthy lifestyle among students. Dr. Shalini, a dietitian and nutritionist from Fortis Hospital Bannerghatta, invited as the resource person.
During the session, Dr. Shalini explained on various lifestyle related diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, and metabolic disorders, all of which can cause from unhealthy habits. She focused on the importance of adopting a balanced and nutritious diet to prevent these conditions.
The session covered the essential components of a healthy diet, such as carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals, fats, and fibre, highlighting their importance and daily requirements. She also advised students to take supplements only with a doctor's guidance, as overuse can be harmful. She also shared tips for maintaining overall health.
The event ended with a speech by Fr. Denzil Lobo, SJ, Director of Loyola ITI. He reminded the students that "Health is wealth" and encouraged them to avoid bad habits and adopt healthy ones.
