Loyola ITI celebrated World Endangered Species Day on 15 May 2026 by organizing an Elephant Awareness Programme to create awareness among students about the importance of protecting endangered animals, especially elephants, and conserving wildlife and biodiversity. The programme aimed to encourage students to develop responsibility towards nature conservation and environmental protection. Mrs. Damini Kulkarni, Education Officer at Wildlife SOS, was the resource person for the programme. During her session, she explained the importance of elephant conservation and highlighted the threats faced by elephants and other endangered species due to deforestation, habitat destruction, pollution, illegal hunting, and climate change. She also shared information about the rescue, rehabilitation, and protection activities carried out by Wildlife SOS for elephants and other animals. The session created greater awareness among students about the need to protect elephants, conserve wildlife, and preserve ecological balance.
